Who is Izak Krige?

Izak Krige is a registered professional engineer with over 30 years of experience in the plastics and manufacturing industries. He obtained a Bachelors and Masters Degree from Stellenbosch University.

After retiring from corporate life, he opened his own consulting company, and in the process established SCM Systems. His experience enabled him to build up a complete solar and back-up power system at his home in Hermanus, allowing him to live off-grid.

He realised that lead-acid batteries have now been technologically surpassed by lithium-ion batteries and when his own golf cart needed new batteries, he undertook a technical research study.

He purchased a lithium battery, to the latest available standard at that time. In the process, he discovered several shortcomings in the battery systems available on the market. He made contact with one of the top lithium battery manufacturers in China and offered to redesign their system. They agreed and developed a new battery according to his design principles.

This is the Rolls-Royce of golf cart batteries and is marketed under the SCM Systems design standard.
