Frequently asked questions
Q: “Do you require a special charger?“
A: Yes. Lithium batteries require a smart charger that has the required voltage/current profile to match the battery specifications.
Q: “What is the cost of charger?“
A: The cost of the smart Lithium charger is included in the price of the battery.
Q: “Is the cart on-board charging plug used?“
A: Yes if the optional Universal Charger Port is purchased. Then the charger plugs into this port and is connected to the battery via the charge port. Optionally the Smart Lithium charger can be connected to the battery with the Anderson connector that is supplied as a standard accessory. This is the connection system that is used if the charger is mounted on-board.
For charging, the charger input lead is plugged into a 230V outlet via a supplied (SA) 15 Amp 3-pin plug. If you choose not to fit the charger on board, you can connect the charger to the battery with the Anderson connector or through the Universal Charger Port if that has been installed.
Q: “How is the cart electronics protected when the Lithium battery is charged?“
A: The battery is supplied with a change-over switch that isolates the cart from the charge current when charging. I consider this to be a prime safety feature.
Q: “What about power supply for ancillaries?“
A: The battery has a built in 12V dedicated output fitted with an Anderson connector. A spare matching Anderson connector is supplied in the installation kit. Electrical leads to supply 12V current for ancillaries are crimped into the spare connector. A 5V USB output is under development.
Q: “How is the 48V power supply connected to the battery?“
A: The battery has a nominal 48V output fitted with a large capacity Anderson connector. The cart positive and negative leads are crimped into the spare Anderson connector that is supplied in the kit.
Q: “How are the batteries distributed?“
A: Batteries are sent with The Courier Guy to a specified address.
